Once again, I was drawn to Bangkok for a workation trip. For the first time I tested a Coworking space there. So far, I've mostly worked in cafés or within the accommodation or hotel. My experience and how I felt this time with the Work-life balance in the next few lines.

P.S.: I have the complete contribution without ChatGPT or any other AI, as I am reporting on personal experience. No AI in the world can tell me about that, at least not yet 😉

Arrival & first day in Silom

After arriving at the Holiday Inn in Silom, I worked 2 hours in the lobby, of which 1 hour is a customer meeting was. For a short time, I was worried that I might have to cancel the meeting as the airport was very busy and the traffic was even busier than usual. But in the end, I ended up sitting at my Macbook an hour early and was even able to get some other to-do's done.

After the meeting, the first private walk was less surprisingly to the "Botanika" massage salon, just 200 meters from the hotel. Due to the large intersection, the short route is nevertheless always a little adventure. Red traffic lights in Thailand do not necessarily mean stop, especially for scooter riders 😉 Attention, there is also a Special rule for left turners: They are still allowed to turn or do it 😄

My tip: Take the plunge and swim with caution!

To round off the first day, we went to the steakhouse next to the hotel, which has now become a tradition when we stay at the Holiday Inn in Bangkok.

Day 2: Coworking space in the "Work Loft" in the heart of Bangkok - the Silom district

On my second day, I had arranged a coworking space for myself near the Sala Daeng metro station. This would originally have been a 20-minute walk. However, the weather was very moody and it rained heavily in the meantime, so I stopped off at the supermarket and bought an umbrella, but still put on an umbrella. Work session at Starbucks and lunch break in a noodle restaurant. There we had a delicious Thai tomato and noodle soup.

Arrived at the coworking space The Work Loft" in the heart of BangkokI realized that card payments are still not accepted or welcome everywhere. So I had to take another detour to the ATM in the mall next door. Which was no problem at all for me, as I had one of my Highlights in Thailand found: A Thai food market 😍

So I left the shopping mall not only with cash, but also with 3 bags of food. Even though I'd only just had lunch 😂

Back in the checked-in coworking space, I took a seat in the 3-storey workspace with its own café, 2 kitchens, dozens of private offices in one of the open coworking spaces on the lower floor and set up my workspace.

There I had a spontaneous call regarding a small order and worked extremely focused on my projects. Until the employee reminded me at 7:50 pm that they were closing in 10 minutes. So after almost 5 hours of work, I made my way home and stopped at one of the fine restaurants in the narrow side streets of Bangkok for a Green curry and spring rolls (approx. 8 € with water).

Day 3: The After Rain Cafe and little work

On the last day, we got up early, as the traffic is at its worst between 8 and 10 am. We went to the "After Rain Coffee & Gallery" a little outside of Bangkok. After a 50-minute cab ride (with the Grab app), we arrived and found a dreamlike setting of a café with rivers and boats under palm trees.

First the quieter part: breakfast, coffee in the shade with a great view of the countryside. Then the "action": off to the boat and paddling under palm trees, including a photo shoot. You want to remember beautiful experiences with pictures and of course share them with friends 😉

As a reward, we then had mango sticky rice, my favorite dessert in Thai cuisine. Absolutely recommendable cafe with a special flair. Just like the "TrueLove Husky Cafe„, which we visited on our last trip to Bangkok. For me as a dog lover, it was a very nice experience in Bangkok.

After arriving at the hotel and a short power nap, I spent another 3 hours working in the hotel lobby before heading to the airport for my return journey.

Conclusion of my renewed workation in Bangkok

Bangkok was not a new entry in my Workation Mapbut it's definitely one of my favorite destinations for working: cheap, incredibly friendly people, a wide range of leisure activities, lots of coworking spaces and cafés to work in.

This trip was probably the best so far in terms of work-life balance. On average, I worked very effectively for 4 hours a day and had great leisure experiences. The two cafés mentioned are really worth a visit!
