What you can expect in this article:

I'll show you how you can easily integrate ChatGPT into Divi and use it directly in the Divi Builder. Not only does it save time, it's also super simple and well done. In addition, I have expanded the article in August 2023 regarding the in-house Divi AI from Elegant Themes.

ChatGPT is on everyone's lips. The AI tool won't do all of our work, but it can be a huge help for text creation and idea generation, for example. So why not integrate it directly into your Divi Builder and save time? Let me show you how.

If you work with Divi, there is now a great plugin which ChatGPT integrated into the Divi Builder. It is called Supreme AI Writer from Divi Supreme*a well-known developer of Divi extensions.

Elegant Themes has also announced that it will integrate ChatGPT into Divi. However, it is not yet known when this will happen. While Elementor and other manufacturers have already taken this step, Elegant Themes is once again lagging a little behind.

So now I'm going to show you how to Integrate ChatGPT into Divi today and use in the Builder can.

Installation of Supreme AI Writer

Supreme AI Writer is not free, but at 29 $ per year for an unlimited number of websites one very fair price. You can order the plugin here *:

After you have purchased the plugin, you must install and activate it like other plugins in WordPress via Plugins - Install by uploading the zip file. After activation, Divi Supreme will ask you to enter the license key. You can find this either in the order confirmation or in the Divi Supreme dashboard.

Then comes something that Divi Supreme somewhat neglects in its advertising and documentation but is actually clear (you have to connect your website to OpenAI somehow 😉): An OpenAI Secret API Key must now be entered in the Supreme AI Writer settings. To do this, you need a (free) account with OpenAI and can then enter it in the Settings - Create API keys:

Note: ChatGPT 4.0 does not yet work quite as reliably, so I would still use GPT 3.5 Turbo for the time being.

After saving, the installation is complete and ChatGPT can be used in the Divi Builder.

Use Supreme AI Writer in Divi Builder

In the Divi Builder, you will now find a new AI icon next to the "Upload media" button (image 1 in the gallery). If you select a text beforehand and then click on the icon, Supreme AI Writer remembers the selected text and offers you to improve/change this text. The Improve [selection] command will then automatically appear in the prompt field.

You can also set the desired tone, writing style, maximum number of words and "temperature". The temperature is a parameter that controls the creativity of the answers. The higher the value, the more creative and imaginative the answer will be. If the value is low, the response will be more conservative and have a strict focus on the actual prompt. For a start, 0.5, the default setting, should be suitable here (Fig. 2).

If you then click on "Generate", your answer will be generated and displayed (image 3). You can then choose whether the answer should be regenerated ("Regenerate") or whether you are happy with it and want to use it ("Use").

If you click on "Use", the text is inserted or replaced if you have previously selected a text.

Brand new: Generate code in Supreme AI Writer

Still relatively new, the plugin can now also create and use code in the Code module. In the code module, you will therefore find the AI icon as in the text module, but a special input mask for creating code will then open.

Update August 2023: Elegant Themes releases Divi AI

In the meantime, ElegantThemes has released their own Divi ChatGPT integration. It's making huge waves in the Divi community and Nick & his team have yet to complete the implementation.

Divi AI is activated from version 4.22 without asking and cannot be deactivated! With version 4.22.1 Divi AI can at least be in the role editor per role deactivate. However, this is not a sensible solution for various reasons. For example, many of my customers have their own admin account and could (theoretically) go into the role editor themselves and adjust the settings there.

In addition, there are many companies that understandably No artificial intelligence active in the backend of your website want to have.

Criticism of the functionality of Divi AI

As many users report, so are the results that Divi AI spits out, not really useful and helpful. The image creation function certainly has a lot of potential, but at the moment it can only be used for do not create a convincing image.

The community is also busy discussing the placement of the Divi AI buttons. For many, the buttons are more of a hindrance than a help.

Divi 5.0 the reason for the unfortunate launch of Divi AI?

All in all, ET is still make major improvements have to. And I'm sure they will, you just always have to be on the ball with Divi. some patience 😉 The launch was not necessarily a happy one. Personally, I suspect that the team allowed itself to be put under a lot of pressure by the competition and wanted to catch up quickly.

Certainly also plays Divi 5.0 one role. The Elegant Themes team is currently devoting most of its resources to the major relaunch of the theme. A few months ago, it was actually said that no more new features/products would be released. So it was even surprising for me that the Divi AI came. But this is probably where the previous paragraph came into play.

However, anyone familiar with Divi knows that new features always take a little longer than the competition. But, and this is Extremely positive to Divi: Nick and his team are working tirelessly and listen very strongly to the large community. Divi 5.0 shortens the time required for further development and implementation of new functions due to the completely new code base. This time should therefore be significantly reduced in the future.

Here you can find out everything about the latest status of the major update. Also Divi World has written a great summary.

My current recommendation for companies: Stop all updates to 4.22

For my part, I have stopped all updates to 4.22 for the time being and am waiting for a proper implementation. This will probably work like the Divi Cloud. This means that you have to log in separately to be able to use the Divi AI. An alternative solution would be activation/deactivation via the API generator in the ET account. Both would be much more sensible solutions in my view.

In any case, every website operator must be free to decide whether Divi AI is activated or not!

Conclusion on ChatGPT integration in Divi with Divi Supreme

The Supreme AI Writer plugin from Divi Supreme does exactly what it is supposed to do: Seamlessly integrate ChatGPT into Divi. This saves you time and allows you to use the power of the AI tool directly in Divi without having to have ChatGPT in parallel.

I recommend that you never use the generated texts just like that. You should always check and scrutinize the results. I currently only use ChatGPT to find ideas and solve writer's block.
