Bricks published information on 2.0 yesterday. Bricks 2.0 is scheduled to go live in the usual phases and versions alpha, beta and RCs in Q1 2025 at the latest.
In brief:
- Components: Also, but not only due to the high demand from the Bricks community, there will be so-called components - reusable elements - from V2. This allows us developers to display certain element settings as properties. These can then be edited in each component instance. These changes are updated in real time in every instance of the component.
- Global elements: The introduction of components eliminates global elements.
- Various builder improvements: More detailed builder access rights for better control, element manager, selection and editing of multiple elements at once, improved interface for dynamic data selection, import/export of class and variable categories, more options for class import, class and variable recycle bin, copy and paste of element conditions and interactions and more.
- Performance improvements of the builder
- Query Filter Phase 2 is initiated. These include active filter elements, URL parameter support, checkbox filters, radio filters, taxonomy as source and new interaction triggers empty or non-empty filters.
- Implementation of roadmap entries:
- Query Loop gets more "order by" options and multiple selection as well as control for ACF and Meta Box relationships
- Masonry as a new layout element
- New elements rating and back-to-top
- WooCommerce extensions and improvements are not explicitly supported until V2 will be tackled. However, there will be a new checkout coupon and login element up to 2.0.
- Extensions regarding accessibility
- Introduction of wireframes templates in the library, but only after 2.0
- Complete overhaul of the Bricks Academy
It will also no discount campaignsnot even on Black Friday. So there's no reason to wait for anything 🙂
